Kano govt purchases vehicles worth N300m for security agencies

Kano state government has purchased and distributed nine new assorted vehicles and eight fairly used ones, in addition to refurbishing 12 vans for security agencies in the state, at a cost of N292.6million.

A breakdown of the donation shows that the NDLEA got two new Toyota Hilux vans, state HISBA Command three new Toyota Hilux vans; the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), two new Toyota Hilux vans, while the State Sports Commission got a new Coaster bus and a new Corolla saloon.

The state road traffic agency KAROTA, received six fairly used Toyota vans and two fairly used towing vehicles even as the Nigerian Army 3 motorizing infantry Brigade Kano had 12 of its vehicles refurbished. This is sequel to 16 brand new vehicles donated to the brigade recently, by the state government.

During the handing over of the vehicles, the state governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, explained that the state would continue to assist security agencies as part of the government’s commitment towards ensuring sustainable peace and security.

“Kano must be safe for businesses to thrive. People must be secure to conduct their day to day endeavors. Without peace, we cannot sustain the position of Kano as the commercial nerve center of this part of the country if security does not remain a top priority,” he stated.

He noted with happiness that with the support of the state government, security agencies in the state have succeeded in reducing armed robbery significantly while criminal activities have abated in Falgore forest in Doguwa local government area.

In this regard, he charged the security agencies to sustain their gallantry and to make best use of the vehicles donated to them.
