Kano earmarks five grazing forests to address herdsmen, farmers’ clashes

The governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has disclosed that his administration has earmarked five grazing forests provided with mechanised boreholes to address clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers which in recent times has led to loss of lives and property.
The governor stressed that it is no longer fashionable for Fulani herdsmen to traverse the length and breadth of the country searching for pastures for their cattle as new methods have emerged for cattle rearing.
Ganduje also revealed that over 60 Fulani children have so far been sponsored and trained in Turkey for animal insemination and are now working at two centres provided by the state government.
The governor said that he is optimistic that the measure will end the Fulani herdsmen/farmers crisis particularly the Southern farmers.
