Succour has come the way of traders who suffered huge losses to some markets in Kano earlier this year.
Goods and properties worth over 28 billion naira were lost to the seven fire incidents.
The Kano State Government and Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote have donated 500 million naira each as assistance to victims of the fire outbreak that occurred early this year in five major markets in Kano.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the Chairman of Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, announced the donation on Saturday in Kano.
Dangote said the gesture was to ameliorate the suffering of those affected by the disaster.
“Times are hard and if not for the recession which affected us, I would have donated more than this amount,” he said.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje said the state government had also donated 500 million naira to the victims.
He disclosed that goods and properties worth over 28 billion naira were lost to the seven fire incidents.
