Ishaku Sends 67 to Kenya for Special Training on Water Resources

Taraba state governor, Mr. Darius Dickson Ishaku, has sent 50 casual staff and 17 permanent staff of the Taraba State Water Supply Agency (TSWSA) to Nairobi, Kenya for special training on water resources.
While addressing the trainees at Government House, Jalingo before their departure to Kenya, Governor Ishaku charged them to be good ambassadors of the State.
“My charge to the youths and staff of Water Supply Agency therefore, is to be good ambassadors of the State, pay attention to the training while in Kenya and bring back ideas and innovations that will make Taraba people very proud”, he said.
According the Governor, the purpose of sending them to Kenya is in fulfilment of the promise he made to the staff of the Water Supply Agency during a Town Hall meeting on Water Supply Sector Reform, held at the Jolly Nyame
Stadium, Jalingo in February this year.
Ishaku further advised the Trainees not to abuse the opportunity given to them, stressing that they should imbibe discipline, loyalty and dedication to learning modern technics of Water supply.
Governor Ishaku, who assured absorbing the 50 trainees as permanent staff of the Agency, under the state government as soon as they return from Kenya however, warned them from indulging in negative acts, pointing out that culprits will be forced to face the wrath of the law.
Speaking earlier, the State Commissioner, Ministry of Water Resources, Barrister Emmanuel Gowon explained that the team of 50 youths on trip to Kenya comprised of Civil and Water Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Chemical Engineers, Computer and Information Communication Technology (ICT) professionals, Economists, Business and Commercial Management professionals, Town and Regional Planners, Accountants, Sociologists and Public Relation personnel.
The Commissioner said, there are 17 staff of the Agency that have been selected from various departments, who stated will provide support to the youths while in Kenya which however, made the number to 67.
He disclosed that the trip will be divided into three batches for convenience so as to achieve maximum benefit, noting that all the batches will spend two weeks in Nairobi, Kenya simultaneously.
Responding on behalf of their colleagues, David Kaka, from Sardauna local government who is a graduate of Mathematics and Computer Sciences, from the the Federal University of Technology, Yola (FUTY), Joel Ubandoma (Takum), who represented the permanent staff, Chemical Engineer and Monitoring Evaluation Officer (TSWSA) all thanked Governor Ishaku for giving them the opportunity and promised to use the knowledge to be acquired to improve water dispensing in the state.
Speaking exclusively with the Daily Times, the General Manager, TSWSA, Engr. Musa Buba, who appreciated the efforts of the state government, describing it as his happiest moment.
The GM said the selection process was meticulous and carefully done, adding, the Agency engaged only professionals who will help in areas of need. “There was one week thorough induction course. After that, we administered some quality tests on them.
“They are wonderful, enterprising and purposeful young men and women,” he added.
