Ishaku advises corps members maximize skills acquisition training

Taraba state Governor, Darius Ishaku has charged the newly registered National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state for their one -year compulsory national service to take seriously the skills acquisition training they would receive in camp.
Gov. Ishaku made the assertion during the swearing-in ceremony of the 2019 batch B, stream 1 corps members held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Sibre, Ardo Kola Local Government Areas of the state.
Represented at the occasion by the Head of Service, Istifanus Angyu, Ishaku added that the three –week orientation course was a well packaged regimented programme put in place to equip and keep the corps members in the right frame of mind and to also afford them the opportunity to serve the state better during their service year.
“I urge you to be prepared physically, mentally and psychologically to be boosted and exposed to activities that will bring out a better you. Maximize the skills acquisition training that was created to encourage self- reliance amongst young graduates,” he said.
The governor further charged the corps members to be good ambassadors of their respective states and institutions of learning, and to also use the knowledge acquired from their various institutions to foster peace and unity which according to him, the nation dearly needs.
He however, assured that his administration will support all viable NYSC policies and programmes, in addition to providing a suitable atmosphere for development based on peace and security.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Florence Yaakugh said about 2, 200 corps members were deployed to the state and also participated in the swearing-in ceremony.
While congratulating Gov. Ishaku on his inauguration for a second term in office, Mrs. Yaakugh thanked him for his timely interventions and regular assistance to the needs of NYSC management.
Our correspondent reports that the oath- taking and act of allegiance were administered by the acting Chief Judge of the state, Justice Fillibus Andetur.
