Insurgency: Kamwe people celebrate defeat of B’Haram by marking this year’s cultural day

Kamwe who are better known as Michika or Higgi people of Adamawa state, for the first time in two years celebrated their cultural day after the town was recaptured by Nigeria Army when it was over ran by Boko Haram in 2014.
The celebration was characterised with a book presentation entitled: ‘Kamwe People of Northern Nigeria: Origin, History and Culture’ authored by a London based son of the soil, Barr Iliya Yame Kwache.
Thousands of their sons and daughters graced the occasion to thank God for making them to returned to their homes of origin which they deserted it for more than one year and half because of the attacks of Boko Haram.
One of the prominent Son of the land and the special guest of honor of the occasion, Mr. Boni Haruna who was represented by Hon. Salisu Gogura, call on the people of Kamwe to unite irrespective of their political, religion and party affiliation.
The former Governor of Adamawa State stressed that the unity of the people is of paramount important to the development of the state, knowing fully well that Kamwe are very industrious people by nature and hard work will bring serious economy growth to the development of the area,state and the country at large.
The book reviewer, Dr. Samuel I. Gogura described the author of the book as Courageous, daring and humble Man who has a great inspiration to show case Kamwe in the eyes of the world.
“Because of this book you are daring, because of this book you are humble and because of this book you are courageous for having the inspiration to write a book that has never been written before”. He said
Another prominent Man who spoke at the book presentation is the Catholic Bishop of Adamawa State, Bishop (Dr.) Dami Mamza where he blamed Michika Politicians to have caused a serious disunity in the Land.
“Michika politicians are our major problem, if we are one nobody will divide us, if we are one our voice must be heard, we will have been better more than this, we must be united to develop our communities”. He said
He warned politicians of the area who do not have people mandate and support to decline any political position given to them as it will encourage all form of impunity and corruption.
He lambasted any political office holders who is not doing anything for the sake of the people of Kamwe, but dividing them along religion lines for personal gains and warn them to desist from being sycophants and political stooges.
Various Traditional dancers like Zittha, Gola-Gola, Tarmai, Tuvi,viviri Ghee, Wshu letsa pawa, Feri wsha, Nga Annel Jinate, Dafe Kwatkukwei,Nta Wry and Kamwe students cultural dances graced up the occasion to celebrate the return of peace in the Land.
