Inspired by alcohol, Tiwa Savage’s movie gets massive review in 14 countries

Sensational Nigerian singer Tiwatope Savage, has set the social media abuzz with her recent confession that the inspiration from her first major movie production, ‘Water and Garri’ was influenced by alcohol. The acclaimed Afrobeat Queen, made this known at the premiere of her new movie ‘Water & Garri’.

Tiwa who was garbed in all-white attire and accompanied by his son, revealed that the inspiration came while she lay in her room intoxicated.

The good news is that since the release of the movie, it has received regular review and is now among the “Top 10 movies in 14 countries”.

The 14 countries where ‘Water and Garri’ is making waves include: Nigeria, Ghana, Cameroon, Benin Republic, Rwanda, Togo, Georgia, Zambia, Cyprus, Uganda, Ukraine, Tanzania, Qatar, and South Africa.

The movie is centred around Aisha (Tiwa Savage), an ambitious fashion designer who came back to her home town after a long sojourn in the United States following a family loss. However, Aisha discovers a vastly different reality upon her arrival as the environment she once knew as a peaceful place is faced with escalating violence and tension.

The movie features Mike Afolarin, Andrew Bunting, and Jemima Osunde. It was directed by Meji Alabi and produced by Unbound Studio and JM Films. The film was shot in Cape Coast, Ghana,
