INEC flags off continuous voters’ registration exercise in Nasarawa

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Tuesday flagged off the Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) exercise in Nasarawa state with a call on stakeholders to support and cooperate with the commission.

The flag off exercise was performed by the administrative secretary of the Nasarawa state office of the commission, Emmanuel Akem, during a stakeholders meeting held in Lafia, the state capital.

Akem enumerated main activities of the continuous voters’ registration exercise to include fresh registration, transfer of voters’ registration, distribution and reporting of lost permanent voters’ card at the designated centres.

He continued that the exercise has 90 days duration with headquarters of all the 13 local government areas of the state to serve as registration centres.

He said: “In our capacity as electoral empire, we solicit stakeholders support and cooperation for the success of the exercise which will be of benefit to the country. The security agencies, like any critical stakeholder has been our backbone such that we cannot but ask for more of your support and cooperation.”

The Emir of Lafia and chairman of Nasarawa state council of traditional rulers, Alhaji Isa Musatapha Agwai II, had pledged the state royal fathers support and cooperation to ensure a hitch free exercise been embarked by the commission in the state.
