Imo: PDP wins Orlu, Orsu, Oru East Federal constituency

The Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) Imo state Monday declared the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for Orlu, Orsu, Oru East federal constituency Hon. Jerry Alagbaso winner of the 23rd February 2019 National Assembly  elections.

Announcing the results on Monday at the INEC state INEC headquarters in Owing the Returning Offficer the federal constituency Professor Innocent Madufor disclosed that Hon. Jerry Alagboso scored 21273 votes while the candidate of APC polled 20061 votes and Chief Elvis Agukwe had 5290 votes. The Action Alliance candidate Mr. Ikenna Ihezue picked 2221 votes.

Speaking earlier, the state Resident Electoral Commissioner Prof Francis Ezeonu said some of the results of Imo polling were declared inconclusive by the Returning officer as result of non functional of the card readers.

He said that where de electoral process was done manually without the use of card readers, the results of the affected polling units remain cancelled.

Reacting, Action Alliance candidate, Ihezue said that the results were manipulated accusing the electoral body having compromised.

According to him, the contestants were not notified before announcing the results 10 days after the polls describing the action of the Commission as rape.

In his contributions the APGA candidate Chief Elvis Agukwe said that the exec rise was a mere charade having declared the results of some of the affected areas in the federal constituency as inconclusive.

He said that the outcome of the exercise was unacceptable to him as the process tan against the spirit of justice alleging that the exercise was managed.

Alagbaso of the PDP extended olive branch to his opponents and urged them to embrace peace.
