I’ll Use All Legal Means To Challenge My Mandate – Segun Abraham

Segun Abraham, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo state has threatened to use all legal means to get back his mandate on the party’s governorship primary election held in September 3rd 2016.

Abraham also said he wouldn’t dumped the opposition party as currently being spread but stay and work with other aggrieved co aspirants to challenge the fraud in the primary poll.

He explained that there were anomalies in the final results of the primary election that produced Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu has the candidate of the APC in the state.

Mr. Abraham, spoke on Sunday at a briefing with newsmen held at the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Akure.

He described Mr. Akeredolu’s name as pseudo which was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission for ratification.on the order of the party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun after a meeting of the National Working Committee.

The governorship aspirant said the votes he garnered during the primary election of the APC were legitimate and unchallenged.

Mr. Abraham, a preferred candidate of the party’s National financier, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insisted that he won the shoddy primary election with a difference of 34 votes against Mr. Akeredolu.

“As the people have placed their full confidence in me, through both their votes and their continuous clamour for my mandate.

“I have resolved to pursue truth and our just cause by all legal means, with the full determination to get our mandate back”.

He said that157 fake delegates were injected into the delegate lists in 12 out of the 18 local governments areas (LGAs) that was used in the primary election.

“This includes 54 delegates loyal to our mandate in at least three LGAs of Akoko North West (13), Akoko North East (26) and Idanre (15), who were disenfranchised and substituted with fake delegates.

“We have sought that these disenfranchised votes should be added to my poll (635), after the fake and substituted ones have been removed from votes polled by the acclaimed beneficiary”

Abraham who polled 634 votes to come second in the race stated that victory and success can never be in the party in as much injustice and manipulation controls its internal structure.

“APC as the opposition party in Ondo has the unique chance to conquer any party in the state but this can be achieved when there is justice, fair play and sincerity of purpose.

On Saturday, Mr. Abraham has issued a statement and condemned the party’s National Chairman, John Odigie-Oyegun, for overruling the report of the Appeal Committee headed by Helen Bedenga.

Mrs. Hellen three member Appeal Committee had in the report had called for a rerun of the primary election of the APC in the state.

Mr. Abraham in the state issued by his media aide, Sayo Aluko, said Oyegun’s decision which favors Rotimi Akeredolu as the candidate of the party for the November 26th governorship poll was unjustifiable and unacceptable.

“After painstaking deliberation and consideration of evidence-backed petitions by our party’s Electoral Appeal Committee and the National Working Committee (NWC), it was recommended that the September 3rd Primary election be annulled, and thankfully, this recommendation was ratified and upheld by a majority of our NWC.

“And just like most of you, I was disappointed at the inexplicably unexpected and unjustifiable move by our party’s National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to have disregarded this informed stance of the NWC that favored annulment of that fraud-ridden primary, moving ahead to submit a name to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

“It is a move that is akin to injustice, and we know it won’t stand. I condemn it in strong terms, and I’m sure a lot of us do” the APC governorship aspirant said.
