I’ll make Otefe Poly hub of entrepreneurial devt – Rector

In line with the policy thrust of the Ifeanyi Okowa administration in the state, the new Rector, Delta State Polytechnic, Otefe-Oghara, Prof. Emmanuel Apoyi Ogu-jor, has said that he would institutionalize measures that would make the polytechnic a hub of entrepreneurial development.

Ogujor, who was speaking with members of staff of the polytechnic shortly after his assumption of duties as the new rector of the institution, yesterday said that he is a result-oriented man of few words, with strong passion for creative thinking, fresh progressive ideas and problem solving.

In stimulating entrepreneurial development in the polytechnic, he said, “my administration would also, place high premium on human capital and infrastructural development in the institution”.

According to him, his vision for the polytechnic would be achieved by strengthening the Internally-Generated Revenue (IGR) base of the institution where all facets of the polytechnic would be functional after due consultation, adding, “we can go into entrepreneurial ventures like production of potable drinking water and at the same time, attract external contracts to the institution”.

The rector disclosed that the polytechnic under his watch shall equally focus on effective staff training for better work output (training the trainers) by developing skills that would positively impact on the younger generation for a better society.

Ogujor, who is an electrical engineer by profession with many years of lecturing experience, added that his administration would expand the frontiers of infrastructural development in the polytechnic so that  it can match the growth in sister institutions.

While expressing appreciation to Governor Okowa for the opportunity given to him to contribute his quota to the development of the polytechnic, the rector emphasized the need for robust synergy among staff of the institution, adding that there should be team spirit in order to launch the polytechnic to a higher pedestral of glory.

Ogujor, therefore, solicited the kind cooperation and understanding of all stakeholders in the institution, promising to carry everyone who is ready to work along in the scheme of things in order to achieve the desired goals and objectives of the state government.

In his remarks, the Public Relations Officer of the polytechnic, Mr. Wilber force Ofotokun, said “since Prof. Ogujor assumed duty, the polytechnic atmosphere has been pregnant with palpable but positive anxiety”, adding that from his disposition, one can see that he is ready to work and move the institution forward to its desired destination.
