Igbo group raises the alarm over killing of its members in Delta

World Igbo Summit Group (WISG) in Asaba, Delta State Saturday raised the fear of unknown over the alleged secret killings of its members by some faceless persons.

Though, the State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, while addressing journalists in Asaba at the weekend said the Police would do everything possible to bring the perpetrators to book, the Igbo Summit Group in a press statement signed by its Public Affairs Director, Dr. Nwankwo Nwaezeigwe, alleged that there has been report of secret killings of some Igbo persons by suspected Fulani herdsmen operating in Ndokwa,Ukwuani and Ossissa axis, stating that the matter had been reported to the Police.

It was reliably gathered that in the past two months, some Igbo residents in Ndokwa, Ukwuani and Ossissa axis were allegedly attacked by persons alleged to be Fulani herdsmen and left two of them dead, but Police officers in Ukwani Police Division who did not want their names in the print, described the alleged killings of Igbo persons in the areas as untrue.

They, however, confirmed that over six suspected Fulani herdsmen were arrested last Monday for allegedly attacking some farmers in the areas.

Nwaezeigwe, in the statement appealed to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, President Mohammadu Buhari and the law enforcement agents to come to their aid.
