ID-EL FITRI: NOA OYO sues for religious tolerance, harmonious living

The State Director Oyo State National Orientation Agency, Mrs. Dolapo Dosunmu, has sent her wishes to Muslims in Oyo State and across the country as they come together to celebrate Id-el Fitri which is a special time that highlights the diversity and reach of Islam.
In a special release to the media in Oyo State, the NOA Director states; “As Nigerian Muslims celebrate Ramadan, we should be reminded that we are one Nigerian family. We must stand firmly in rejection of the voices that seek to divide us or limit our religious freedoms or civic rights. I stand in celebration of our common humanity and dedication to peace and justice for all. And in the month of reflection, we cannot forget the millions of lives that have been displaced by conflict and struggles across the world particularly those affected in our own backyard”, she said.
Dosunmu also sympathised with many Muslims faithful, especially the internally displaced persons (IDPs), who may not be able to observe Id-el- Fitri from the comfort of their homes or afford to celebrate Eid with their children. “We must continue working together to alleviate the suffering of these individuals and avail ourselves the common obligation to uphold the dignity of every human beings”, she advised.
The NOA boss further said that, “Let me also use this opportunity to call on our religious leaders to incorporate into their sermons and homilies those teachings that support tolerance and encourage social harmony, patriotism, orderliness and deference to the rule of law among other virtues”.
She further enjoined all road users to take necessary precautions for effective and safe vehicular movement on the roads being enforced by the traffic management authorities during the public holidays and after.
