I don’t produce movies for money making -Odesola

Special Assistant to the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) on Administration & Personnel, Pastor Johnson Odesola, has disclosed that his reason for joining the film industry is not for profit but to win the youths for Christ.

Odesola who recently premiered a movie titled ‘Journey to Egypt’ barely two months after the his movie titled ‘Scars of Joy,’ which was acted in Europe and Nigeria, said this while fielding questions from journalists after the movie premiere in Silverbird Galleria, Victoria Island, Lagos.

According to the producer, the movie is exclusively for the youths who travel abroad in search of greener pasture and end up living miserable lives in their new countries of abode.

“My aim is not for money making but to carry the message of good news to people so that people’s lives can get better. One of the best ways to get the youths for Christ is through an avenue like this,” he said.

The cleric posited that more movies will still come up that will address the ills of the society.

“There are so much to do but the time is very short, as I am talking to you now two movies are on ‘Wayward Dally’ and Impingement’ which will be tidied up in another two months.

“The story line of ‘Journey to Egypt’ is different from ‘Scars of Joy.’ This is a story of direct compromise in the name of looking for greener pasture, it is exclusively for the youths, the message in this is that you don’t need to go far, what God intend to raise you is around you, what you are looking for in London is here in Nigeria,” he said.

The movie was directed by Seun Jonathan and produced by Faith-Lift productions Nigeria Limited, it is a story of warning to Nigerian youths who flee abroad in search of greener pastures but end up being deported after illegal procurement of document.

In the movie, Richard the lead character played by Shola Oyin-Adejobi traveled to UK with his friend Femi, played by Seun Jonathan, to further their education.

The two friends were advised by a Nigerian based UK to engage in illegal marriage with a citizen of the land in order to get their permanent stay but both rejected the idea on the basis that they are born again Christians but Richard went back and agreed to the arranged wedding.

Later he was set up by the same friend who introduced the idea to him and was arrested and later deported to Nigeria.
