Group sponsors 100 members for education abroad

The Odua Progressive Care Initiative (OPCI) on Wednesday said that it had sponsored 100 members of the organisation to study at American Trinity University in Port-Novo, Benin Republic.

The President of the Initiative, Dr Maruf Olanrewaju stated this in Ilorin while briefing newsmen shortly after that National Coordinating Council meeting of the organisation.
Olanrewaju explained that the scholarship award, which he said gulped about N10 million, was one of many programmes the group had for its members.

He claimed that the beneficiaries had since been matriculated at the University for diploma courses that would last them two years.
According to him, the organisation will soon empower some artisan members with equipment required in their profession.

The President urged members to be patient and cooperate with his leadership as the group would in 2018 embark many life-touching programmes.
He said that the council deliberated on the progress of the organisation as well as welfare of its members.

He said that the group would erect it’s national secretariat at Ile-Ife in Osun state by 2018 and also roll out some cultural festivals.
Mr Rotimi Akinsowo, the Deputy President of the group said that the group was formed for the progress of its members and Yoruba.

He noted that the group was new and could boast of membership in nine states of the federation.
According to him, the group would expand its structure to other state by 2018.
