Group flays alleged maladministration in Delta state

*Laments poor infrastructural dev since creatio
A non-governmental organization Group Initiative for Youth Development, and promotion of Peace (IYDPP) has flayed the alleged maladministration in Delta State since its creation in 1991, saying that its continued maladministration had worsened the poor infrastructural development in all its facets.

Noting that successive governors since 1991 have abysmally failed Deltans in providing the dividends of Democracy, the President of the group, Ambassador Austin Sitaramahley who spoke to journalists yesterday in Asaba while exchanging views on what he alleged as “maladministration in Delta State”, called for strong collaborative measures among stakeholders to end the youths’ restiveness across the country.

According to him: “successive governors since the creation of Delta State in 1991 have done nothing to improve the state infrastructure, rather they have been indulged in alleged maladministration of monumental fraud, diversion of state resources into personal pockets”, adding that IYDPP was out to checkmate bad governance and alleged diversion of public funds.

Regretting that Delta State has not in any way been developed, the group challenged Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to show substantial evidence of provision of basic amenities to Deltans, rather had in the past two years plus been allegedly doing tokenism, and construction of not up to a kilometer road.

“We have not seen any road Okowa claimed to have constructed that is up to 2km length, it is a shame Delta State has nothing to show as a state” the group added.

The group alleged that over N40 billion had been squandered by the present administration on frivolities, saying that until corrupt leaders are brought to book no meaningful development can take place in their operational base.

On Nigeria’s restructuring, Ambassador Sitaramahley said “without restructuring this country called Nigeria, Nigerians will continue to languish in poverty, deep economic problems”, saying that the leadership of the present administration had failed in many areas, especially in the provision of employment for youths.

But in a swift reaction, the State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah described the group as “faceless” dispelling all its allegations as untrue.

He said: “The fact speaks for itself, Okowa’s laudable projects are on ground to see, and there has been commendation everywhere”.
