The candidature of Senator Ahmad Lawal for the President of the Senate and Rep. Femi Gbajabiamila for the post of speaker, House of Representatives yesterday received a boost as a group known as APC Youth Parliament drummed support for them.

The APC youth group appealed to senators and House of Representatives members-elect to vote for Lawan as the Senate President and Femi Gbajabiamila as speaker of the House of Representatives respectively.

They urged the lawmakers to as a mark of respect to the party vote for its anointed candidates.

Secretary, Bauchi state chapter of the group, Malam Nasiru Cigari said their collective resolve to back the duo for the exalted offices was not only out of loyalty to the party, but was also in consideration of their wealth of experience in the legislature.

He accused the leaders of the 8th National Assembly of sabotaging President Muhammadu Buhari which hindered him from implementing some of his manifestos and development agenda.

“We wish to solicit the support of elected APC parliamentarians to as a mark of respect and loyalty to the party that made them to as a matter of reality accept the party’s choice of candidates for better economic growth and to give APC an ample opportunity to implement its viable manifesto.

“The consequences of not doing that will cast a negative precedence to the collective progress of our dear nation Nigeria.

‎”For a better and more robust legislative approach and policies that will move the country forward, the APC Youth Parliament calls on other pro-APC groups and civil society organizations to support the move to enable Lawan and Gbajabiamila emerge as leaders of the 9th National Assembly,” Cigari said.
