Governor Al-makura explains why he wants to be senator

Nasarawa State Governor, Tanko Al-makura has disclosed that his quest to become a senator in the forthcoming general election is borne out of his desire to support the President Muhammadu Buhari led All Progressives Congress (APC) administration’s drive to take the country to the “Next Level.” Governor Al-makura said this on Monday night while speaking to State House Correspondents after a dinner for APC senatorial candidates held at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The governor said, there are basically two things that necessitate his desire to vie for the senate seat was to see that the APC takes Nigeria to the Next Level nationally and to ensure that all the bottlenecks that have bedevilled good governance are sorted out for the country to take its rightful place in the comity of nations. “That has encouraged some of us to ensure that we partake in this project to support Mr President to ensure that his vision is being supported by the parliament so that he wouldn’t have any problem in ensuring full implementation of the well designed programmes he has for this country.” “Secondly, we have seen the commitment and loyalty of the calibre of senators now at the Red Chamber it has never add tremendous amount of hope that yes Nigeria has come to be, to have people who are committed, who are selfless, who are patriotic to support the president in ensuring that this country is taken to the Next Level. “That is the second encouragement that made me to throw my hat to the ring to partake in this exercise. I believe that as a committed man, if some of us have started the way Buhari is leading the country, a long way before now I believe this country would have attained a level many Nigerians would have been proud of.” Speaking on the support of his state toward the re-election bid of President Muhammadu Buhari in the February 14 presidential election, the Nasarawa State governor, assured that the state would vote not only the President but all the candidates of the ruling party from top to bottom. “Nasarawa State has always being the destination. Whenever Mr President is coming, he is coming to his second home. Don’t forget that in 2011, Nasarawa State was the only state that gave Mr President the platform; meaning it was the only state in which the party (CPC) held swear. “I believe the preponderance of support will not only in the visit of Mr President, but in the election properly. I assure you that Nasarawa State will surprise this country by ensuring that from top-to-bottom, they will vote for APC,” the governor said.
