Gov. Bello secures landslide victory in Niger

Incumbent Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger state has declared winner of Saturday’s governorship election across the 25 local governments in the state.
Gov. Bello, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 526, 412 votes to defeat his closest contender, Umar Mohammed Nasko of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who scored 298,065 votes
The returning officer for the governorship election in Niger state, Prof. Angela Freeman Mary, Vice Chancellor, Federal University, Lokoja declared the result and announced Gov. Bello winner at the end of the collation exercise at the INEC state office, David Mark Road, Minna, the state capital.
APC won in all the 25 local government areas of the state.
According to the resident electoral commissioner, total number of registered voters in the state was 2, 377, 034 while a total of 925,518 voters were accredited for the poll.
Total valid votes was 900, 861, total votes rejected was 19, 609 and total number of votes cast was 920, 480.
