Gov. Bello charges federal lawmakers to uphold party principles
…Asks them to pursue pro-people agenda
Niger state Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello has admonished all members of National Assembly-elect from the state to uphold the principles of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) on which platform they were elected.
He warned them against anti-party activities in the National Assembly, especially in the choice of principal officers for both chambers of parliament.
The governor also urged them to be good ambassadors of and represent the state with renewed resolve to attract more socio-economic development to the state.
In a congratulatory message to the federal lawmakers -elect issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, the governor charged them to always support party ideals as a yardstick towards the actualization of its political mandate to the people.
He said the federal lawmakers must establish themselves in the National Assembly as loyal party members and work without compromise, for the overall development of the country.
“There is no time for pursuing personal or self-serving agenda at the detriment of Nigerlites in particular and Nigerians in general. All elected National Assembly members from the state are expected to align with pro-people agenda of President Muhammadu Buhari,” the governor said.
He also called on the National Assembly members-elect to close ranks and establish synergy with the state government in a deliberate attempt to forge a common front in bringing meaningful development to the state.
“In the collective interest of our people who overwhelmingly renewed our mandate, we must forge a common front for renewed hope and prosperity for Niger state and Nigeria,” adding that they must lobby where necessary to attract more national presence in the state assuring that the state government would fully support and compliment their gesture.
“One of the key elements of democracy is lobbying. I urge you to hit the ground running by working closely with the state government to identify ongoing federal government projects in order to fast track their completion as well as attracting other strategic projects,” he added.
