Glo’s flagship Laffta Fest show earns subscribers’ accolades

Grandmasters of Data, Globacom’s flagship, unique comedy concert , Laffta Fest, which features the best of Africa’s comedians, has been commended by the network’s subscribers for contributing to prolonging the lives of Nigerians.
The subscribers who spoke to journalists were of the opinion that Laffta Fest was helping to reduce stress around the country by promoting laughter and fun.
The subscribers who spoke at the venue of the latest Laffta Fest Concert in Aba, Imo State said that the show was a stress-killer, especially at this period of socio-economic challenges.
The show has been going around the country and has so far stopped over in Port Harcourt, Abuja, Enugu and Owerri in Imo State, South East Nigeria. The next Glo Laffta Fest show will be on Sunday in Warri, South South Nigeria.
These will be followed by other locations like Awka, Ikeja, Ikorodu, FESTAC, Ajah, Asaba, Calabar, Enugu, Aba, Suleja, Kubwa, FCT, Ibadan, Ijebu Ode, Abeokuta, Ekpoma, Kaduna, Akure, Lokoja, and Anyigba in the next five months.
At the venue of the show held at the Trade and Investment Centre, Owerri, subscribers rained accolades on Globacom for supporting entertainment in the midst of the recession, and for organising the popular comedy show at this time in the history of the nation.
According to Pius Eze of the University of Technology Owerri, the anxieties in the country are enormous.
“We worry about virtually everything. Security, power, accommodation and even where our next meal will come from. But in the interest of our health, we should sometimes take our minds off these things and enjoy hearty laughter and Laffta Fest is helping us to forget our sorrows,” he said.
Another speaker, Edwin Nwamadi, an engineer, called on the operator to continue to be a pioneer of customer-friendly initiatives, saying that Laffta Fest was a great idea.
Miriam Njoku, an entrepreneur also spoke and described Globacom as “a wonderful network that has the interest of its subscribers at heart”. She said the show helped her to unwind.
“When I was called to come for the show, I was telling my friend who doesn’t use Glo to consider what she was missing. What Glo is doing is really commendable. I really love Glo and it’s all I use for calls and browsing,” she said.
The Owerri event featured Bovi and Basketmouth, who both gave a good account of themselves. The fans had the opportunity to hobnob with Nollywood stars like Patience Ozokwor popularly known as Mama G; Kanayo O. Kanayo (KOK); Angela Okorie and Victor Osuagwu.
Apart from the laughter from the master comedians, Glo also gave subscribers branded gifts to make their weekend more pleasant, further spreading happiness.
There were prizes for the early birds, best dancers and best brains. Favour Arinze, a student, emerged the best female dancer, with Umeh Adaora, a banker as runner up. Anagboso Francis was best dancer in the male category, with Ani Chinedu emerging the first runner-up. They all went home with lovely gifts.
To attend the show, Glo subscribers are expected to use up to N2,000 credit within one month and text LOL and preferred location to the short code 240; for example, “LOL Warri’ to 240”.
