Glamour, excitement as Daily Times honours eminent Nigerians

The International Conference Centre, Abuja, was greeted with people from different parts of the country and various political groups who came to witness the prestigious Times Heroes award.
Top echelon of the Nigerian political class came up in their numbers to jubilate with The Daily Times as it marked its 91st anniversary with the Times Heroes award.
Former President Goodluck Jonathan, Ghanaian President were also honoured at the award.
Governor Rauf Aregbesola, who represented former Lagos State Governor, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commended The Daily Times for achieving such remarkable and historic moment.
Gombe State Governor, Ibrahim Dankwambo, was bagged Times Heroes award because of the giant strides in infrastructural development, road maintenance, youth empowerment and poverty alleviation and employment opportunities.
The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, was awarded with the Good Governance Times Heroes 2017 for transforming the state within two years in office.
Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, said it was an honour to receive the award, adding that it would spur him to continue to deliver good governance for the people of Kogi State.
Chairman of Daily Times, Mr. Fidelis Anosike, said the award was the first of its kind in the past 20 years.
He said that The Daily Times is a national treasure that must be guided, adding “I’m just a custodian of The Daily Times. DTN is going to be the custodian of Nigerian history.”
Prince Tony Momoh, Paul Adefarasin, and others all described The Daily Times as a national asset that must be cherished.
They harped on the need for the country to uphold the unity of the country. They also observed that journalism is an effective tool that shapes society, adding that The Daily Times has played the role of guiding light in Nigerian journalism.
Pete Edochie, who received Life Impact award, described it as authentic, adding: “if a blind man says he has seen, it means he has truly seen,” he said.
