Dignitaries at the weekend flew into Plateau to attend the funeral service of Governor Simon Lalong’ younger brother who died on the 26th of September 2017.
Among the personalities are Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Governor of Kano state, Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State and Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State.
The Honorable Minister of Youths and Sports Solomon Dalong who was also at the occasion, besiege politicians to stop playing politics at the slightest of opportunity especially at funeral.
Dalong was assumed to be responding to Shettima’s speech who spoke on behalf of the northern governors, saying that the peace that returned to Plateau would be attributed to the efforts of former Governors like Fidelis Tapgun, Joshua Dariye and Simon Lalong, excluding Lalong predecessor, Jonah Jang.
Dalong said, “this is not an occasion where we play politics, this is a burial service and a Church graced by respected men of God: the corps of whom we came to bury is still lying waiting for internment and words like this are being spoken; I advice politicians to choose their words in an atmosphere such as this”.
However the funeral of the late governor’s brother Tsenba Wummen Bako was without hitches as he was made to rest in his home town at Ajikamai, in Shendam LGA.
Sympathisers at the funeral service were admonished to rededicate their lives to God knowing that humans can only pass through this world but once.
The sermon delivered by the President of Catholic Bishops, Most Rev. Ignatius Kaigama also admonish Christians to live their lives worthy of emulation.
Our correspondent reports that the late Lalong’s brother was born on the 2nd of June 1971 and was married and the union was blessed with four children.
