Fuel scarcity: FCT residents appeal to FG for speedy solution

The residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have urged the Federal Government to initiate a speedy solution to end the lingering fuel scarcity in the country.

The residents, who spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), in Abuja, on Tuesday, also expressed displeasure at the epileptic power supply.

They said a quick resolution of the challenges would facilitate economic growth and reduce the hardship being faced by the people.

Mrs. Sara Kaka, resident of Abaji, FCT, said: “I am not happy with the present situation at all because I have been on the queue at petrol station for hours.

“It is also terrible when you get home as there has been no power supply for more than a week in my area.

“I am appealing to the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to this fuel scarcity as soon as possible.”

Mr. Saleh Abu, a resident of Kwali, said he had been on the queue for a while to buy petrol for his motorcycle.

He expressed unhappiness at the current situation in the country.

“I have been on the queue since morning to get fuel for my bike, but, till now, nothing; the pump meters have been adjusted but we have no choice than to buy.

“We were told by the Minister of State for Petroleum that the fuel scarcity will disappear very soon and yet it is growing day by day,” Abu said.

The situation at Gwagwalada was not different as many motorists were seen at ASO Filling Station waiting for a petrol tanker to discharge fuel.

A resident of Kuje, Mrs. Hajara Hassan, said the government should ensure Nigerians lived well.

“It is quite frustrating that you can no longer eat what you want but what you see and the monthly salary is no longer coming as at when due.

“Even elections are inconclusive these days, unlike it used to be and life is miserable with the present economic situation in the country.

“I urge every Nigerian to pray for the restoration of peace and economic stability in our nation, Nigeria,” she said.

Mr. Daniel Yemsom, a businessman at Sauka in Kuje Area Council, said that the economic downturn, with the fuel scarcity across the country, had been making life unbearable.
