FG employs 300 in Bauchi to monitor social investment programmes

No fewer than 300 people have been engaged by the Federal Government in Bauchi State to monitor the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIP) so as to guarantee its success.

The Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq made this known on Monday while presenting letters of engagement to the beneficiaries who are to serve as independent monitors in Bauchi state.

According to her, the 300 employees are saddled with the responsibility of monitoring the implementation of all the welfare programmes in the state.

The NSIP was created by President Muhammadu Buhari in 2016 with the mandate of lifting citizens out of poverty through a number of Social Interventions which include the Job Creation Programme – N-POWER, National Home-Grown School Feeding Programme (NHGSFP), Conditional Cash Transfer Programme (CCT), and the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP).

The Programmes are being implemented in 36 states of the Country and the Federal Capital Territory.

Speaking, the minister explained that 5, 000 independent monitors were engaged and trained nationwide for the National Social Investment Programme in February this year.

“Each Independent Monitor is expected to monitor a designated number of beneficiaries of the National Social Investment Programme”, the minister said

“They will be paid a monthly stipend of N30, 000, and they must meet up to 80% of their deliverables monthly to be eligible for their stipend”. She added.
