FG committed to high standard in treasury academy -AGF
The federal government has pledged its readiness to raise the bar on the state of infrastructure and quality of academic programmes being offered at the Federal Treasury Academy, Orozo Abuja.
This was disclosed by the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, at the last week when he led the members of Governing Board of the institution on a familiarization tour.
The visit was to acquaint the members with the state of affairs in the school and the progress being made by the federal government to reposition the school as a centre of academic excellence in providing public finance education in Nigeria.
While expressing delight with the level of work achieved in the renovation of the hostels and classroom blocks, as well as the dedication and commitment of the management and staff, the AGF assured that government will do its best, within the limits of the available resources, to uplift the status of the institution to make it more attractive to both public and private organisations.
He however, urged the management to further look inward in view of the current economic challenges facing the nation and come up with more innovative ways of addressing some of the challenges facing the institution such as poor funding dilapidated structures.
Idris therefore tasked the management of the institution to do their best to ensure that facilities already provided are properly managed and adequately maintained.
Earlier, the acting director of the academy, Mr. Egbokhale Charity Kadiri, expressed the appreciation of the management and staff of the academy to the AGF and the board members for their commitment to the school and pledged the management’s continued cooperation and commitment to the Academy in order to take it to new heights.
Mr. Kadiri was particularly grateful to the AGF for the phenomenal transformation that the academy has witnessed since his assumption of office, which according to him has changed the school from a place of obscurity adorned with dilapidated structures to a place of fame with modern facilities and structures.
On their part, members of the governing board commended the Accountant-General for the bold initiatives taken so far in addressing the infrastructural challenges of the academy and also praised its management for ensuring that good standards were maintained.
In a related development, the AGF has paid a condolence visit to the family of late Mr. Aminu Angwai, a staff of the FTA Orozo who passed away some time ago in a motor accident.
Represented by the Director Administration, Alhaji Sule Alhassan, the AGF condoled with family on the demise of their father, describing him as a committed and responsible staff and pledged the continued support of the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation to the family.
Receiving the AGF and his team, wife of the late Aminu, Mrs. Amina Danlandi Agwai, thanked him for the visit and the support the family received since the demise of her husband.
