FETHI  keys into Buhari’s TSA, promotes 1,649 workers

The management of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti  has keyed into the Treasury Single Account introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari, as part of the efforts to curtail financial recklessness in the hospital.

Making the disclosure in Ido Ekiti, the Chief Medical Director , Dr Majekodunmi Ayodele, also disclosed that a total of 1,649 workers have been promoted in the last three years by the hospital’s board.

The CMD disclosed further that the outstanding November and December salaries, which had caused some unrest in the hospital in recent time, as well as arrears of allowances of 2014 and 2015 respectively have been paid.

He said a total of 971 and 678 senior and junior staff  respectively were promoted since he ascended the position, contrary to rumour being peddled against him that he had denied the staff promotion.

Ayodele, a consultant psychiatrist however warned the workers of the hospital against instigating crisis over leadership positions, saying such could threaten the respect the public has for the tertiary health institution.

The CMD who described leadership tussle pummeling the hospital as regrettable, charged those scrambling for the position of the CMD to wait until the expiration of his tenure by September, 2016, rather than stoking the fire of crisis that could rip the hospital apart.

On the claim by his detractors that the hospital was getting over N2 billion to execute projects annually, Ayodele stated that the highest he had ever collected for capital projects was N130 million , saying most of the projects were being done through Internally Generated Revenue.

“My detractors had never stopped peddling lies against me since I assumed office . It is sad that most of these crises were being instigated by a former CMD, who had benefited from the system.

“I want to say that the kind of reforms I have brought on board, particularly  the establishment of Procurement committee has not gone down well with some staff. Through this process, Contracts were being diligently awarded and I stopped payment into individuals’ accounts and direct payment of money to staff to stop embezzlement,” he said.
