FCT fire service rues lack of modern equipment — Opetunsin

Despite efforts by the past and present administration of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to install fire-fighting equipment within the city, to ensure proper protection of government infrastructure, life and other property, the management of the FCT Fire Service, has cried out to the administration, to ensure that modern equipment were procured to enable its men carry out their duty.

This appeal was made by the Acting Controller FCT Fire Service, Mr. Opetunsin Julius, on Tuesday, in Abuja, in a chart with journalists.

Opetunsin was of the view that for the country’s capital city to stand tall among major cities of the world that the country must protect its infrastructure, which had gulped huge financial investments.

According to him, government had actually been putting much in modernising the city and had already been judged as one of the fastest growing cities of the world after 40 years of existence, but would need sophisticated and technologically-advanced equipment for carrying out certain fire rescue operations, which, for the moment, were lacking.
