Fayose dissolves cabinet

*Directs Commissioners to hand over to all Permanent Secretaries in the ministries

Ekiti state governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, on Sunday announced an immediate dissolution of the State Executive Council and ordered all former commissioners to hand over to the Permanent Secretaries of their respective ministries.

Fayose, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Idowu Adelusi, thanked the former commissioners for their service to the state and wished them well in their future endeavours.

Although the governor did not state reason for taking such a major decision, there are however speculations that the decision to dissolve the cabinet may not be unconnected with political goings-on in the state ahead of the 2018 gubernatorial poll. Governor Fayose has kick-started a continuity political agenda several months ago.

Some said in some quarters that dissolving the cabinet may have to do with allowing those in his government to fully prepare for the coming poll, while others speculate that it may be connected with alleged political machinations by the opposition to penetrate Fayose’s government ahead of 2018.

The governor has also alleged that the federal government was after his government for being the loudest opposition voice against it.
