Enugu state sets up assets’ recovery committee

As part of effort to recover all its assets the Enugu State Government has set up a committee to come up with the State Government Assets Data Base. The Commissioner for Finance, Mrs. Eucharia Uche Offor while inaugurating the committee headed by Mr. Chinenye Cosmos Okegbe, with members drawn from various ministries said the Committee ‎will identify, itemize, register and evaluate all assets of the State government.

She said the State is migrating to Accrual Basis which will require bringing in all Assets belonging to Enugu State into the Financial Statements.

Offor urged “Ministries to release all vital information that will help the Committee categorize, codify and register all Assets belonging to Enugu State so that whenever or wherever you see Enugu State property, you will be able to say, it is from Ministry of Lands, Health or Commerce and Industry.
In his response, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Chinenye Cosmos Okegbe, Permanent Secretary, Debt Management Office, thanked the Government for finding them worthy to serve and that the Committee will not let the Government down.

He said, “With the calibre of professionals in the Committee, I have no doubt that we will deliver.

“I believe that after this, Enugu State will be first as always in IPSAS Compliance”, he said.
