The president of the Actor Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Mr Emeka Rollas, has said that the appointment of the senator representing Adamawa North Senatorial District in Adamawa State at the Nigerian 9th National Assembly Senator Elisha Abbo as an Actors Guild of Nigeria National Patron representing the North East should not be sentimentalized.

Emeka Rollas said that there are processes in the appointment of Actors Guild of Nigeria’s National Patrons and that the committee that presented Abbo must have screened him to as he is representing the North East where he is from;’
He explained that to nominate Actors Guild of Nigeria National Patrons the AGN’s Vice Presidents of each zones and the Chairmen of State Chapters nominate those who have been helpful to them then pass it to the committee who do the screening and after that he do the signing.
Emeka Rollas in his defense of Elisha Abbo’s appointment as Patron of Actors Guild of Nigeria said what is the difference between morality and legality in the face of prima facie
He went on to say that the man in question has not been proven to be a serial woman beater.
And if he has a case which no court has convicted him on that matter why should the AGN be rubbed into it? he asked

Veteran actress Hilda Dokubo said Sen. Elisha Abbo is “not fit to be one of the patrons of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)”.
Dokubo, who took to her Instagram, @hildadokubo, stated that Abbo was not fit for such a position, recalling how Abbo, representing Adamawa North, was caught on camera physically assaulting a nursing mother at a sex toy shop in Abuja.
In her words: “An abuser of women as Patron of Actors Guild of Nigeria is an unpardonable abuse of the rights of all the females in the creative space, especially #actors.
“We must stop every attempt at rubbishing our values as a people with such appointments in whatever guise.
“Consequently, Sen Abbo must be delisted from our list of Patrons now.”
