Ekiti PDP guber primaries: 2,132 delegates to pick candidate today

Baring last minute hitch, a total of 2,132 delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), across the 16 local government areas of Ekiti State will participate in the party’s primaries today to pick its governorship candidate.

The state deputy governor, Olusola Eleka, former national publicity secretary, Dayo Adeyeye and former deputy governor, Senator Biodun Olujinmi are participating in the primaries to be conducted by the Governor Ifeanyi Okowa-led committee.

The party’s spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan said all the three aspirants were in high spirit and that the party is ready to demonstrate to the world that the party is a father of democracy by conducting a successful primaries.

He said, “we promise not to have the APC experience. We don’t have 37 desperate aspirants. We have just three aspirants and they’ve assured us of their maximum cooperation.

“The process leading to the primaries is so transparent.”

He said 1,583 delegates who are statutory delegates were drawn from party officials, elected council chairmen, vice chairmen, councillors, all state committee members, members of the National and states assemblies from the state, serving and former NEC members from the state, former and serving governors and deputy governors.

Ologbondiyan added that all must still be members of the party.

The 547 ad-hoc delegates were made up of three delegates each from the 16 local governments.

The primaries Appeal Committee will be chaired by the party’s national chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.
