Ekiti PDP chair charges Buhari on dividends of democracy
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman in Ekiti State, Barrister Gboyega Oguntuwase has advised President Muhammodu Buhari to earnestly take necessary steps that would rescue Nigeria from the present economic recession by ensuring that the masses enjoy the dividends of Democracy they deserve.
Oguntunwase who lamented that “People are under horrifying economic situations where security of life and property is no longer guarranteed,” pointed out that Nigerians are already regretting their votes for Buhari and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking with newsmen at the PDP Secretariat in Ado Ekiti, Barrister Oguntunwase said the regret is based upon the fact that the much expected changes are not forth coming, upon the much noise of ‘Change’ by President Buhari and the APC, saying “there are no positive changes, but nagative changes.”
The PDP chieftain lamented that “Nigerians are suffering and yearning for a better atmosphere where their tomorrow can be guaranteed. They are yearning for a situation where the Nation would be a better place, they are yearning for situation where they can break through. They are yearning for a Nigeria, where you can give advice ,not where they live as haters of themselves base upon tribes and religions” which he doubted that the present political partý at the centre “could not unfortunately provide”
He pointed out that “Nigerians are yearning for a situation where the economic situation would be a better one for all,where graduate would not only be produced by universities and just going into the open market facing hopelessness of tomorrow. People are losing jobs everyday, this is traceable to the fact that industries and manufacturing concerned are closing down.
While admonishing Buhari to ” shelve all arrogance, pride, vindictiveness and face the issue of governance properly”, Oguntuwase said “The essence of democracy is to deliver the dividends of the process, everybody expects some things as benefits of democracy.”
According to him, “All these things include easy access to feeding, school, the basics of life, but these things are no longer easily attainable under the harsh economic situation in which Nigerians have found themselves”.
Specifically, the PDP Chairman frowns at what he describes as “lack of focus by the administration of Buhari, saying “The ineptitude is so clear that they don’t even know how to arrest the sliding of the Naira. The value of naira is falling daily and they don’t know how to arrest the situation.
Oguntuwase however assured Nigerian masses that “PDP will bounce back to restore the lost glory the Nation and make people smile again”, adding that he was sure that ” This regret of Nigeria would ultimately distinct the termination of the present APC government in 2019 democratically and it could lead to the extinction of APC”.
