Ekiti Govt Reiterates Suport for Southwest Integration Agenda

The Ekiti State government has reiterated its full support for the socioeconomic development in Southwest, Nigeria.
Speaking in Abeokuta at the ongoing 2017 Governance Innovation Conference of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria, the State Head of Service, Dr Olugbenga Faseluka said the hosting and warm reception accorded the south west governors in Ado Ekiti last week by Governor Ayo Fayose was a demonstration of his total support for the Southwest regional integration programme.
He re-echoed Gov Fayose’s conviction that the economic development of the Southwest must be insulated from partisan politics as hunger and lack do not recognise political party emblem.
Dr Faseluka urged the DAWN commission to properly deconstruct the concept of development.
In his view, the concept had meant different things to different people but what everyone seems to have agreed to is that development is a transition from the stage of backwardness to prosperity.
He stressed that the development of the ordinary man must be the epic centre of any meaningful development.
Dr Faseluka advised that the DAWN agenda must therefore situate the development of man at the centre of its programmes and activities.
He added that the Yoruba man who was first to watch television in Africa and had seen real development in the old Western Region and later Western State must be emancipated from the present state of lack, hunger and want.
