EKITI ELEVATES 129 TEACHERS TO POST OF PRINCIPALS, VICE PRINCIPALS

Ekiti State Government has promoted 54 Vice Principals to Principals
while 75 Heads of Departments (HODs) were elevated to the post of Vice
Principal.

The Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mr.
Abiodun Faluyi made this known in Ado Ekiti during a meeting with
Principals and Vice Principals of public secondary schools in the
State.

Mr. Faluyi explained that the development transcends reward for
hard-work, stressing that the promotion exercise was particular about
the ability and readiness of the affected teachers to perform well in
their new portfolios.

Describing teachers as Nation-Builders, Faluyi noted that they have
the onerous responsibility of parenting multitude of school children
under their care without bias to the diverse background of the
children, emphasizing how important and vital their role is in the
effort to resuscitate and sustain a high standard of education in the
State.

He therefore charged the Principals to justify the confidence reposed
in them by living up to their responsibilities adding that they must
ensure discipline in their respective schools and inculcate reading
habit in the children under their tutelage towards achieving the
desired result.

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mr. Sunday Adebayo
warned that Government would not tolerate any form of
unprofessionalism, stressing that hard-work, diligence and good
results would however be rewarded.

Responding, the President of the State chapter of the All Nigerian
Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Mr. Abiodun
Omotoso appealed for the engagement of more teachers to check the
inadequate number of teachers for some subjects.

Mr Omotoso who also pleaded for provision of adequate security in
schools with the construction of perimeter fences and employment of
security guards among others, pledged on behalf of his association to
leave no stone unturned towards achieving the desired goal of
returning the State’s education sector to its pride of place.
