EeZee Tee Responds to Mercy Chinwo’s Allegations, calls for audit

Gospel music executive Ezekiel Thankgod, popularly known as EeZee Tee, has responded to allegations made by singer Mercy Chinwo in a statement released on January 25, 2025.

In a response issued through his legal representatives, Maxwell Opara & Associates, EeZee Tee denied allegations of forgery and financial mismanagement, stating that the claims misrepresent the facts and contractual agreements between both parties.

His legal team asserts that Mercy Chinwo actively sought to be signed to EeZee Conceptz, with the involvement of third parties, and that the contract was signed in the presence of witnesses. They maintain that the forgery claim is unfounded.

“Mercy Chinwo personally went around Port Harcourt soliciting people’s assistance to get signed to EeZee Conceptz. Some of such people include K.O Baba, Hilda Dokubo, and Pastor Temple Odoko who prevailed on Eezee Tee to facilitate the deal. The contract, they assert, was signed by Mercy Chinwo

“One of the most concerning aspects of the dispute is Mercy Chinwo’s decision to involve the EFCC’s Ilorin Command, despite the fact that all contractual dealings between her and EeZee Tee were conducted in Lagos. The legal team has described this as a clear case of forum shopping, aimed at securing a more favorable intervention outside the proper jurisdiction,” said Maxwell Opara & Associates.

Regarding financial matters, the legal team alleges that Mercy Chinwo directed booking revenues into a personal account while still under contract. They further claim that the dispute should be handled through civil legal channels rather than by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The legal representatives also state that EeZee Tee was detained by the EFCC’s Ilorin Command and that he transferred $274,000 to Mercy Chinwo’s account during this period. They question why the matter was taken to the EFCC instead of being resolved through contractual dispute mechanisms.

His legal team has called for an unbiased independent audit by a reputable accounting firm to clarify any financial discrepancies. They have also emphasized that EeZee Tee has followed due legal processes and will continue to seek justice through appropriate channels.
