Education faculty tops list of first class at UNN’s 47th convocation

One hundred and thirty two graduates of the University of Nigeria Nsukka have bagged first class at the 47th Convocation with Faculty of Education topping the list.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Benjamin Ozumba, announced this on Friday during the 47th convocation of the university.
“The total number of graduates and diplomas are 7830. One hundred and thirty two graduates bagged first class.
“I commend these first class graduates for their academic excellence, “he said.
The VC said the two convocations the university held within one year was a practical testimony and demonstration of his administration’s resolve to improve academic curriculum of the university.
“Holding second convocation within one year shows improvement on university curriculum as well as timely released of computer based results in line with best academic practices,” he said.
He said the 5-point plan of his administration include to offer quality education and professional programme to build university that would serve as intellectual and cultural centre for the promotion of new ideas and partnership.
In a remark, Mr. Michael Olorunfemi, the Pro-Chancellor and chairman of UNN Governing Council, congratulated the graduating students and urged them to be good ambassadors of their alma-mater where ever they find themselves.
“Today is an occasion to celebrate the successes of our children and wards who devoted themselves to the academic demands, today is a day to reward their devotions and sacrifices to academics.
“I urge you graduates to be good ambassadors of your Alma mater by doing what is right as well as contributing your quota to improve and the university best in the world.
Miss Augusta Ofondu from department of Pharmacy was named as the best graduating student of 47th convocation.
