EDSG remains committed to welfare, security of citizens – Deputy Gov

The quality of a people is determined by the quality of skills and knowledge they have, hence Governor Obaseki’s administration is focused on providing adequate school infrastructure to improve the education standard in the state.

The deputy governor of Edo state, Rt Hon Philip Shaibu made the assertion when he commissioned four blocks of classrooms at Uhogua IDP secondary school in Uhogua village, Ovia North-East local government area.

Comrade Shaibu who represented the governor at the inauguration ceremony,noted that the primary responsibility is to provide welfare and security for the citizenry ,adding that the policy thrust of the present administration is to build human capacity through vocational training and technical education.

He assured the Internally Displced Persons that government will continue to provide their needs for them to survive and succeed in their educational pursuit so they can also contribute to the development of the state.

Hon Shaibu who noted that education is key to human Capita development charged the beneficiaries (students) to cease the opportunity to acquire knowledge in order to fit into the 21st century .

He thanked the Enogie of the community and the people for their cooperation,while assuring them of government’s response to their request.

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education Ms Osayuware Idahosa in an address commended the state government for its developmental strides in the education sector by ensuring that all the eighteen local government areas of the state were touched.

“This goes to show that the Executive Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki led administration has continued with the good work his predecessor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole started.”
She explained that the ultra-modern four blocks of eight classrooms with furniture, functional borehole, Headmaster’s office and modern toilet facilities were 100 per cent built by Edo state government, adding that the facilities will undoubtedly also serve the host and neighboring communities.

On his part, the Enogie of Uhogua village, HRH, Prince Frank Ekiroguaghen Idumwonyi Eresoyen who commended Edo state government for caring for the IDPs over the years ,expressed joy over the his community has played in rescuing thousands of displced children ,saying that the good deeds have earned their community a special place in the world map.

The Enogie specifically appealed to government to deploy Edo language teachers to the school to enable the students learn the language, noting that they are now part of his people. He also appealed for more government presence.

The coordinator of the camp, Pastor Solomon Folorunso thanked the state government and the community for their support so far.
