Edo 2020: Edo monarch summons Oshiomhole, Ize-Iyamu and Obaseki for peace talks

An Edo state monarch has moved to bridge peace talks between the feuding politicians involved in the soon to come Edo state gubernatorial election.

The meeting, which was convened by the Oba of Benin, brought together the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomhole, incumbent Governor and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Godwin Obaseki and Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the APC in a meeting which is expected to occasion a ceasefire to ongoing hostilities.

The Omo ‘N’Oba N’Edo Uku Akpolokpolo, Oba Ewuare II is said to have called the meeting ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in the State.

The election, by a large mile, has been a two-horse race with the incumbent governor locking horns with his former benefactor who now looks to oust him from office in favour of the APC flagbearer, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.

Recall that over the last 48 hours Governor Obaseki’s motorcade as well an APC entourage have both been involved in road skirmishes during which two police officers died when a trailer reportedly rammed into an APC convoy in Benin yesterday; events which have been suspected to be subtle attacks at each other by the sworn political enemies.

Oshiomhole, Obaseki, Ize-Iyamu and other major political actors in Edo have now been summed by Oba Ewuare for peace talks ahead of the election.
