Edo 2016: UPN endorses Ize-Iyamu
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flagbearer in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has promised to give the people of the state dividends of democracy in its full measure while also promising to revive all the dead industries in the state.
He made the promise when members of the state chapter of the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) and also the state branch of the socio-cultural group, Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) led by Prince Sylvester Eweka paid him a solidarity visit in his residence situated off Ugbor Road in GRA, Benin City.
The ex- secretary to the state government said that he is throwing his hat into the ring because of his desire to better the lot of the people of the state who have been yearning for good governance and accountability in the last eight years. He asserted that he will not let them down.
Pastor Ize-Iyamu urged the people of the state to be vigilant in the days ahead as a lot of things would be done by some mischievous elements all in a bid to thwart the desire of the people.
He promised to reach out to all the nooks and crannies of the state in spreading development.
He disclosed that he got his tutelage in politics from the late founder of the UPN, the sage, Chief Jeremiah Obafemi Awolowo, while he was a member of the party in the 1980s.
Earlier, Prince Eweka told the gubernatorial hopeful that they were also using the opportunity of the visit to declare their total support for his candidature and thus adopt him as their candidate for the Saturday, September 10 poll.
Prince Eweka disclosed that members of the OPC will henceforth provide a water tight security around Pastor Ize-Iyamu and his team in all his campaign venues around the 18 local government areas of the state.
