Edo 2016: Obaseki leads

Collation of votes was still on this morning – as of 1 a.m. – in the Edo State governorship election.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), which said the state collation would begin today, was yet to announce the results, but from unofficial but credible sources at the local governments collation centres, The Nation learnt that the All Progressives Congress (APC) was leading. Its candidate is Godwin Obaseki.
The party was said to be leading in four out of Edo North’s six local governments – Akoko Edo, Owan East, Owan West and Etsako West, home of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
There were no hints about Etsako Northeast and Etsako North Central.
In Edo South, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was leading in Orhionwon where its candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu hails from. It is also the home of Deputy Governor Pius Odubu.
