Easter: Ex-minister advises Nigerians to keep hope alive

Chief Nduese Essien, former Minister of Land, Housing and Urban Development, has called on Nigerians to keep hope alive in spite of the current economic challenges.
Essien gave the advice in an interview with the Newsmen on the sideline of the 2017 Ester celebration in Eket Local Government Area on Saturday.
He expressed optimism that the nation would emerge from the current economic challenges being experienced with prayers for its leadership.
He urged the people and the Church to use the Easter period to pray to God for the leadership of the country to succeed and for wisdom to move the economy forward.
“The death of Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago gave mankind the redemption which creates room for mankind to improve on their life.
“The church should encourage brethren to believe in the word of God in spite of the current economic challenges being experienced in the country”, Essien said.
Essien charged the church to encourage members to believe in the word of God and give hope to the people that they could survive under any condition.
He also appealed to government at all levels to provide basic needs to the people.
“Let us forget what has transpired in the past, let us work to improve the economy and make the best use of the resources so that we can improve the welfare of the people.
He also charged the government to be focused on programmes and make good use of the resources available to it.
“The way forward for Nigeria as a very rich country that we are, is for us to exploit its resources to the fullest.
“Nigerians should also ensure that derivation from their resources are fully utilised by the government to the benefit of the people”, Essien said. (NAN)
