Dignitaries storm Abuja for Daily Times 91st anniversary/awards tomorrow

Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city is opening the week on festive mood as dignitaries from across the globe make heroic entry into the city that will host The Daily Times 91st anniversary celebration and Heroes/Heroines awards on Tuesday, May 16, 2017.

Aside from dignitaries coming from all parts of the most populous black nation in the world, Sub-Saharan Africa and Africa at large, guests have started arriving Nigeria from different parts of the world to witness the historic Daily Times 91st anniversary and awards conferment on distinguished global citizens.

Advance parties of great African personalities and leaders started arriving the nation’s capital last week. The tempo gets heightened today for the Tuesday’s event, with expected arrival of Ghana’s President, His Excellency, Nana Akufo-Addo, and the royal African heritage of Ghana and the Ashanti kingdom royalties.

Also expected to arrive any moment is George Weah of Liberia. Weah is celebrated African footballer with many laurels to his credit. He prides as first Liberian youth that has aspired to democratically assume leadership of the country that was colonised and controlled by the United States. Weah is positioned to someday emerge as President of Liberia, as he continues to win massive support and followership of the larger population of Liberians.

Expected in Abuja for the event also include His Excellency, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, Nigeria’s former President, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, and Senator Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate president.

Others are Lt, Gen, Yakubu Gowon (rtd) Lt. Gen Theophilus Danjuma (rtd), Nigeria’s Nollywood extraordinaire, Chief Pete Edochie, Times Governor of the Decade awards winner, Governor Ibrahim Dankwabo (Executive Governor, Gombe State, among other seven Governors from across the country.

Other governors expected to storm Abuja include Governor Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos); Governor Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia); Governor Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Governor Wilie Obiano (Anambra); Governor Bindo Jubrila (Adamawa); Atiku Bagudu and Yahaya Bello (Kogi) among others.

Business icons to be honoured at the event include Mr. TYony Elumelu, Chairman, Heirs Holdings and UBA Plc; Mrs. Ibukun Awosika, Chairman, FirstBank Plc among others.
