Dickson Etuhu Get 5 Years Ban Over Match Fixing
Dickson Etuhu has been slammed with a five-year ban after he was found guilty of match-fixing allegations in Sweden.
37-year-old former Nigeria international was accused of offering a bribe to his former AIK Stockholm team-mate and reserve goalkeeper Kenny Stamatopoulos to fix a game against Gothenburg in May 2017.
The match was postponed as investigations towards the matter started and in November 2019 Etuhu was found guilty
He was lucky to escape prison sentence but he has been banned from all footballing activities in Sweden until April 2015.
A statement from the Swedish FA read, the Disciplinary Board has decided to suspend two people because they have deliberately tried to persuade a football player to underperform in one of the team’s matches.
“Through their actions, these people have violated the anti-match fixing regulations, and they are therefore suspended for five years. “The ban includes training, competing or performing any assignments in any sports.”
Etuhu started his career at Maine Road but left for Preston in 2002 after making just 13 first-team appearances.

Etuhu played in the Europa League final in 2010 with Fulham where they lost to eventual champions Atletico Madrid. He also had spells with Norwich City, Sunderland at retired at Maine Road with Preston in 2002.
Etuhu played 33 times for the Super Eagles and represented Nigeria at the 2010 AFCON tournament and the World Cup in the same year in South Africa.
