David Ejoor flays opposition to 2014 National Conference Report

The Former Military Governor of the defunct Bendel State, Major-General David Ejoor (rtd), has flayed the opposition to the implementation of 2014 National Conference report, saying that there would be lots to benefit from the conference if implemented.
Ejoor who spoke to journalists at the weekend in Delta, on the need to restructure the nation’s economy, explained that the 2014 conference report if implemented, would put an end to the hash economic measures Nigerians are currently undergoing saying: “I’m very much in support of restructuring, those who are opposing the implementation do not mean well for the growth and development of this country at all, there will be lots of benefits, it will bring what we have been wishing for as a nation such as peace, fairness, justice, happiness and increase productivity.”
Noting that without restructuring the country, no meaningful development will take place. Major-General Ejoor (rtd), stressed that the restructuring must be carried out in the six geo-political zones; a measure to enhance the best from every Nigerian, warning that if the 2014 conference fails, there will be disunity among Nigerians.
His words, “we started as a federation of three region, later made it four, now we have 36 states, all these seam not to be really working towards our permanent good, we need the recommendations of the national conference which if implemented can make our country a better place.”
He added that terms and conditions had to be spelt out in manner that would be fair to all but a faction of the delegate to the 2014 National Conference have asked the presidency to have a rethink over the report of the conference by initiating the process to implement its report, while some Nigerians said it will not work, rather it will deepen the predicament of Nigerians if implemented. Meanwhile, the Chairman, Presidential Committee on Small, Light Weapon, Ambassador Emmanuel Emohan has debunked the report credited to United Nation (UN) that Nigeria has no less than 350 Million Small and Light Weapons in the hands of unauthorized persons, thus painting the picture that Nigeria as country is not safe. Ambassador Emohan who spoke on NTA Programme monitored in Asaba by our reporter, said the UN report was a calculated attempt to smelt Nigerian’s image in the International Community, discussing that stakeholders have shown that 390 million illegal weapon are in calculation World Wide, and that if that was true, it becomes unthinkable for the UN or anybody or group to say that 39 million of such weapons are domiciled in Nigeria.
He said that being confidence that the UN report was not a true picture, Ambassador Emohan explained that though Nigeria had taken steps to correct the UN misleading report, it was important to say that illicit weapons in Africa is 100million, out of which West Africa has 30 million, and Nigeria has 3million this figure, he said became necessary in order to put the fact straight, adding that Nigeria has before the Boko Haram and Niger-Delta Militants activities. In another development, The Progressive Peoples Alliance PPA, has described as embarrassing, regrettable and a show of shame the impeachment of the Hon. Monday Igbuya as the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly.
The Party Chairman in Delta State, Mr Fred Obi who spoke in a chat with our reporter on the impeachment slammed on Igbuya, noted that a house that is divided against itself cannot stand.
“The impeachment of a Speaker and members of his party shows that PDP is a completely disorganized Political Party, so we should not expect much from them for they outrightly do not believe in the rule of law. Otherwise how can a people that call themselves legislators wake up sat at 7am and decided to remove the speaker with the flimsy excuses that cannot be substantiated.”
The party boss, however, called on all Deltans to: “watch out for this group of people and completely vote them out in the 2019 general elections and give Delta new faces and a fresh breath.”
