COVID-19: Southern Kaduna union prays for Gov. El-Rufai

The Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), on Tuesday prayed for the quick recovery of Gov. Nasir El-rufai, who tested positive to the dreaded Coronavirus recently.

SOKAPU, in a statement by its spokesperson, Mr Luka Binniyat, prayed God to heal the governor and strengthen him to return to the task of serving his people.

The statement, which was issued to newsmen in Kafanchan, commended El-Rufai, the first person to test positive to the disease in the state, for the proactive measures taken to contain the virus.

It also applauded people of the state for complying with government’s restriction directives, in spite of the inconveniences associated with it.

“We equally applaud the residents of Kaduna state for abiding by the orders of the government authorities, by remaining in a lockdown situation, in spite of the difficult situations associated with this directive.

“We encourage the people to continue to obey instructions and cooperate with the law enforcement authorities to ensure that we all remain safe,” it stated.

The union, however, appealed to the state government to establish a facility in Kafanchan to handle Coronavirus cases, “in case the virus reaches here”.

“We pray that the pandemic does not reach the south of Kaduna, but if it does, the victim would have to be transported over a distance of 250 kilometers to Kaduna metropolis or Zaria for medical intervention.

“There is a need to be proactive; Kaduna South Senatorial District does not have a hospital with the capacity to handle any eventual outbreak of the disease in that part of the state.

“We wish to appeal to the State Government to establish a facility in Kafanchan to handle cases that may arise in that zone. It is the fairest thing to do,” he said.
