COVID-19: NEDC donates 2 ambulances, thermometers to Taraba
As the fight against the dreaded coronavirus deepens, the Taraba state government on Tuesday received a donation of two ambulances and 200 pieces of infrared thermometers from the North East Development Commission (NEDC).

Director Audit NEDC, Alhaji Yerima Ishuwa disclosed this while presenting the items at the Government House, Jalingo.
Ishuwa, who doubles as the leader of the team, stated that the items were presented to assist in containing the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
Ishuwa restated that NEDC was committed to assisting the north -east zone in tackling the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He presented the donated items to Alhaji Haruna Manu, the Deputy Governor of Taraba state in Jalingo.
Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, Manu lauded the NEDC for the gesture.
He recalled that two weeks ago, the commission donated two ventilators and assorted food items to the state government.
“I want to on behalf of Gov. Darius Ishaku and the people of Taraba state commend NEDC for this kind gesture.
“Two weeks ago, we received two ventilators and assorted food items from NEDC and we are so grateful for that,” he said.

According to the deputy governor, Governor Ishaku had already directed that the two ambulances should be deployed to the two isolation centres at the Federal Medical Centre, Jalingo and the Specialist Hospital, Jalingo.
The Daily Times reports that state which has eight confirmed cases is currently on lockdown with a break for Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8am to 6pm to enable citizens buy food items.
According to our correspondent, the COVID-19 committee on Tuesday, during a press conference, expressed dismay over the non-compliance with precautionary measures by the people of the state.
The Chairman, Dr. Innocent Vakkai said the precautionary measures against the dreaded pandemic must be strictly adhered to, saying that the coronavirus is real.
