The Divisional Police Officer, (DPO), Ajao Estate Division, and his senior officers have been redeployed to yet to be disclosed offices in the state for allowing night clubbing at Garbana Club on Sunday, 7th March.
The command had reportedly arrested 41 clubbers at the club between 1.40 a.m. and 2.30 a.m.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, made the pronouncement while addressing officers Area Commanders and DPOs at the POWA Hall, Oduduwa Ikeja, on Monday.
A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Lagos, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), noted that, earlier, the commissioner, Hakeem Odumosu, had warned Area Commanders and DPOs to enforce COVID-19 protocols in their areas, saying “on no account” should any of them allow gross violation of the protocols in the state. Yet, many violated these protocols with impunity.
He still reiterated and warned the DPOs against promoting the violation of COVID-19 protocols in their areas, particularly clubbing and non-wearing of nose masks.
He had said “charity begins from home” and that he would pay them surprise visits to catch them unawares.
