COVID-19: A’Ibom warns against violation of safety measures
Akwa Ibom Deputy Governor, Mr. Moses Ekpo, has warned residents of the state against flouting the safety measures on coronavirus pandemic following the relaxation of movement restrictions by the state government.
Addressing management staff of his office who returned to work after the one month lockdown in Uyo on Tuesday, Ekpo advised workers to abide by all the rules to prevent the spread of the virus at work place.

He urged residents in the state to recognise the fact that the danger of COVID-19 was not yet over, stressing that they should remain conscious during this emergency situation.
He charged residents to continue to adhere to the safety protocols of safe distancing, especially in public places as well as maintenance of personal hygiene.
On the crowds besieging banks and commercial business premises in Uyo after the lockdown was relaxed, the deputy governor warned that the situation does not call for abandoning safety protocols as this would prove suicidal.
He said that all hands must be on deck in order to prevent a resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
Ekpo warned citizens to abide by the minimum safety standards of social distancing, wearing of face masks in public places, hand washing and the use of hand sanitizers, as these were the first line of protection against the deadly virus.
He reminded the people that the prohibition order on public and religious gatherings, marriages, funerals and parties was still in force.
“I salute the courage and resilience of the Akwa Ibom people in the face of the pandemic. I urged you all to remain confident in the capacity of Governor Udom Emmanuel, to provide the required leadership in times like this.

“Even in the face of this apparent emergency and the buffetings from the arrows of enemies of our state, Governor Udom Emmanuel remains focused, resolute and deliberate in ensuring that Akwa Ibom people are not severely impacted by the effects of this pandemic,” Ekpo said.
The deputy governor used the opportunity to commend individuals and corporate organisations who have made donations of medical and other relief materials to the state in this moment of need.
He appreciated all medical workers in the state who were in the front line for their continued selfless devotion to save lives.
