Council poll: APC vows to floor PDP in all LGs in Cross River

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised to tackle the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State headlong in the forth coming local government elections in the state. The Party said it will take over all the eighteen local government councils in the state.
The APC lamented the rot in government pointing out that the it was the only party that conducted primary and was set for the local government elections in the state.
Sadly, the party observed the election which was earlier slated for June 17, could not hold and the electoral body, the Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) blamed it on INEC registration exercise.
But the acting chairman of APC in the state, Sir John Ochala told our correspondent on phone in Calabar that it was only the party in the state that the PDP cannot defeat in the council elections when CRUSIEC reschedules it.
“The Cross River State Independent Electoral Commission (CROSIEC) said the postponement of local government elections was to allow INEC conclude the registration of voters. We are ever ready to tackle them. APC is the only party that PDP cannot beat” he stated.
The CRUSIEC had earlier said that as soon as the INEC Voter’s registrations exercise ends, the Commission will conduct local government elections and the registration exercise is due to end on July 25.
Sir Ochala said that CRUSIEC has promised that they will bring out a continuous time table that will enable parties participate in the elections, “So we believe them because they are still under the ambit of the law. We expect and hope that as soon as INEC registration is concluded, CRUSIEC will come out with continuous time table.”
APC, he stated was the only party in the state that have prepared for the local government elections and they are the only party that has conducted primary and are waiting for CRUSIEC to come out with the continuous time table.
In the event that CRUSIEC fails to honour their thought, he said, “When we get to the bridge we will cross” and on the approval of environmental impact assessment granted the state government by the Federal Government to kick start the Super Highway and Deep Sea projects, Ochala said, “There are more to it”
“The approval is tentative, there are several hassles to cross, and they are criteria to be met, until they meet those criteria before they can do anything called Super Highway. Don’t let anybody deceive you that they can wake up tomorrow and start work, there are so many things to be done,” he said.
